Title: “Bogus Caller Campaign”
Client: Sutton & East Surrey Water (SESW)
Brief: Work together with key stakeholders: Surrey Police, local councils, Trading Standards, Neighbourhood Watch and Age Concern to develop a campaign that makes vulnerable citizens – mostly the aged – aware of bogus callers who prey upon them with criminal intent (more than 50 per cent of these criminals pose as water company representatives)
Create SESW branded educational outreach materials and develop and manage activities to deliver the core messages and tips for handling bogus caller situations
Gain community support for reducing the occurrences of bogus caller-related crimes, which associate them with the water company
Activities: Press conferences, 1-to-1 interviews, direct mail pieces (guides, fliers), local presentations, broadcast interviews, celebrity endorsements, a high-profile play that is presented in key locations to an audience of local interest groups, stakeholder group partnerships, and editorial placements in client and mainstream publications
Results: Realised significant media coverage for the issue
Achieved significant local media coverage and law enforcement recognition for SESW
Built relationships with major stakeholder and consumer groups
Preserved or improved the integrity of the customers’ trust in SESW
