Client: Sutton and East Surrey Water
Brief: Create an education programme for primary schools in the supply area offering support to Key Stage 2 teachers and their pupils on water treatment, conservation and water for health
Activities: Develop, produce and distribute a teaching pack of information and activities for schools including school talks and tours of Bough Beech Reservoir and Treatment Works. Establish a dedicated education centre at Bough Beech
Create web-based tools, lessons, and downloads
Results: A successful 8-year relationship
Ability to respond to the national curriculum needs of teachers and their pupils on water topics
Valuable Key Stage 2 curriculum resources
56-page teaching packs – very popular and are updated annually to help meet evolving needs

Surrey House was also invited to present its educational work to the Water for Health Alliance – a group including stakeholders such as government departments, health charities and organisations such as Water UK, the industry body for all UK water companies. Judges referred to the programme as “quite a remarkable piece of lateral thinking.”
The Education Programme is now an indispensable part of the overall integrated communication programme Surrey House manages and executes for Sutton and East Surrey Water.
Other activities include exhibitions, website updates, education resources, consumer information leaflets, advertising, media relations, crisis communication and public affairs work at local and national levels.
